What is a Spirit-Empowered Life?
This world values self-reliance. We are constantly bombarded by messages that celebrate self-reliance, the grind, and our ability to power through, overcome, and accomplish all the things. A self-reliant life, in my experience, led me to exhaustion, impatience, resentment, and unfulfilling pride. Worse, it was a life marked by inconsistency. I felt trapped in a constant cycle of all or nothing.
In the midst of my struggle between celebrating my self-reliance and being drained by it, the Holy Spirit whispered: toil or trust? I spent most of that week praying and seeking God’s truth. Jesus promised a helper…
why won’t I let Him help?
A question formed: what would it look like if I stopped relying on my own strength in every area of my life? Which led, ultimately, to:
WHAT IS A SPIRIT-EMPOWERED LIFE?
A Spirit-empowered life is one that runs counter to this world. It is a life marked by peace and joy despite circumstance. When you surrender your self-reliance to His will and purpose for your life, you become equipped in ways you never imagined possible. Not just to accomplish things…but, more importantly, equipped to be more Christ-minded. When anger, bitterness, impatience, or jealousy attempt to take root, the Holy Spirit moves you to respond with love, forgiveness, and mercy. Spirit-empowered is a new life. One that no longer bears the weight of shame, guilt, and regret, but one that recognizes the truth of who Jesus is and all that He accomplished. A new life that recognizes His strength, His wisdom, His will. And, when you seek Him and rely wholly on Jesus, you will be strengthened against every temptation. He will lead you from the ashes of this world to abundance.
A Spirit-empowered life bears fruit.
It convicts
It empowers
It renews
It transforms
A Spirit-empowered life is one lived in the constancy of His grace.
